Dolphin Points

Dolphin's Point is a good place to watch dolphins playing in the sea early in the morning. The beach, 2 km from Calicut town centre, is a long stretch of tree lined sand, popular with the local people because of the Lions Club park, the Light House and the two piers - and, of course, the opportunity to enjoy in the evening breeze.

Kappad is the place where Vasco da Gama set foot for the first time when he came to India on May 27, 1498. There is a small stone monument at the beach to commemorate that event. is located on the East Hill. It is run by the State Archeological Department. Mananchira

Mananchira Square is an architectural delight named after the man-made lake Mananchira around which it is situated in the centre of the city. It is named after Manadevan Samoothiri, the erstwhile ruler of the Kozhikode Kingdom, known as Mana-vedan Chira (pond) and later transformed to Mana-an-Chira. The architecture in Mananchira Square is reminiscent of the intricate craftsmanship of olden times. With its meticulously landscaped lawns, musical fountain& open air theatre, making this makes for a perfect setting to attract tourists.
